Reduce, reuse or recycle solid waste where economically and environmentally sensible. When these options are not available, dispose of solid waste using licensed waste contractors.
Improve our energy efficiency by regularly monitoring our energy use and implementing a switch off campaign.
Ensure all business operations are conducted with due regard to the environment, its habitats and biodiversity.
Operate an approved supplier system that favours products derived from recycled materials or renewable resources.
All equipment-purchasing decisions have wastage minimisation as a key criterion within selection.
Raise staff awareness of environmental good practice through their induction process, signage on the premises and regular electronic updates.
Raise supply chain awareness by implementing a questionnaire for all existing and proposed suppliers, and encourage clients to use products and services that are environmentally responsible.
Reduce our requirements for transport by combining deliveries and where possible utilising electronic alternatives.
Protect the health and well being of all staff and visitors to Mirafield’s premises through health and safety procedures.
Avoid use of hazardous or non-degradable chemicals. Where the use of such substances is unavoidable, train staff in their handling and disposal and take precautions to minimise the impact of spillage.
Reduce the use of ozone depleting substances in supplied packaging materials, refrigerants and fire suppression systems by specifying new equipment that is free of such materials and replacing existing systems as directed by legislation.
Operate our business in a responsible manner with due regard to the business premises immediate environment, particularly at unsociable hours and in relation to noise, odour, materials, lighting, litter, uncollected waste or deliveries and collections.
