Exhibition Tips

The Mirafield team have come up with ten important tips to help you on your way to exhibition success. We will be regularly updating this page so please log on for further advice or information from the exhibition world.

exhibition tip
Choose a Pop Up stand that will fit the smallest footprint you are likely to exhibit at. Larger areas can be filled with bright banners, towers, literature stands and furniture.
Think about illumination on and around your exhibition as not every venue is well lit.
Depending upon the size of the space you should consider the options of having graphics at the front and back of your stand. You may not always need this but if you ever exhibit in an open area your message will be more powerful than people simply viewing the framework of your stand.
Understand that exhibition visitors are serious, they will have taken time our of their schedule to attend the exhibition for a reason therefore treat them with attention - get out and talk to them!
Never forget the time factor! - we are all under time constraints and there will be lots of other stands that the visitor will want to see, seminars to visit and meetings to attend to - therefore do not plan giving long presentations but adhere to a 'ten minute maximum' rule for each prospect.
Follow up any leads - when collecting business cards, record what products or services they are interested in and then contact them within one week.
Consider presenting a rolling powerpoint presentation or video. However you must ensure that the presentation is visual and limited in text as it must be eye catching to attract people to stop and want to see more.
Amend your pitch accordingly - exhibitions attract buyers, the media, advertising sales staff, overseas visitors, agencies, consultants, job seekers etc therefore identify their need first and change your sales pitch accordingly without wasting their time and your own.
Consider how you are going to transport your stand - soft cases are lighter, however, hard cases offer more protection and can also be used as a lectern which will save you money on hiring furniture.
Focus you and your team - add up the cost of the exhibition and staff time and inform your team of the Return On Investment needed - this will ensure that you focus your team that the purpose of the exhibition is to do business and not to simply collect business cards and give away novelty items!
